How It Works

The pulse energizer generates high-voltage, low-current electrical pulses that form a complete circuit through the front-end fence. Each wire carries high-voltage pulses, which are then transmitted back to the receiving port of the energizer. If someone touches the fence, they will receive a pulse electric shock. Any attempt to forcibly breach or cut the alloy wires will cause a short circuit or an open circuit, thereby triggering the alarm.

Pulse Electric Fence Working Principle

Applications

Factories

Protect assets, prevent unauthorized access, and secure large, complex industrial production perimeters.

Warehouses

Secure high-value inventory, deter breaches, and monitor logistics hubs around the clock.

Substations

Safeguard critical power infrastructure, prevent vandalism, and meet strict safety compliance requirements.

Prisons

Enhance deterrence, prevent escapes and unauthorized entry, and enable prompt alarm response.

Residential

Deter intrusions, detect climbing or vandalism, and facilitate rapid alarm responses, thereby enhancing security around the community perimeter.

Real Project Application

Product Configuration & Customization

Energizer (Pulse Controller)

The system’s core unit, delivering controlled high-voltage pulses to deter intrusions while ensuring safety and stability.

Fence Wires (Detection & Deterrence Layer)

High-tensile conductive wires form a physical and electronic barrier, enabling real-time intrusion detection and immediate response.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pulse electric fence? What is the main difference between it and a traditional electric fence?

A pulse electric fence is an intelligent perimeter defense system that integrates obstacle, deterrence, and alarm functions. It consists of a pulse host and front-end wires. Unlike traditional electric fences that are continuously energized, it emits high-voltage pulse shocks to form a circuit on the fence, enabling real-time monitoring of the fence’s working status.

The system’s output pulse amplitude is 5000V ~ 10000V under high-voltage mode, but the pulse duration does not exceed 0.1s. The maximum electric shock energy of each pulse is controlled within 2.5mC, and the maximum energy is less than or equal to 5.0J. It strictly adheres to relevant safety standards to ensure human safety.

The host is equipped with circuit short-circuit and open-circuit alarm functions. When any two wires of the alloy wire are short-circuited or any single alloy wire is cut, the host will identify the abnormal circuit return within 2 seconds, trigger a sound-light alarm, and simultaneously transmit the alarm signal to the control center.

Gato’s exclusive Bi-Polar® technology can apply a 5000V high-voltage pulse shock to every wire on the front-end fence. Every point has a 5000V high-voltage pulse shock. This technology eliminates blind spots in the detection area, making it impossible for intruders to enter the perimeter by crossing or climbing non-electrified cables.

The system mainly consists of a pulse host, front-end brackets (terminal posts, tension poles, tension rods, through rods), insulating components (pole rod insulators), alloy conductors, and rear-end control equipment (network alarm host, main control keyboard, management platform software), etc.

The system supports multi-level linkage: alarm linkage can output real-time video and positioning when an alarm is triggered; light linkage can automatically turn on lighting compensation for the corresponding area; video linkage can achieve a one-to-one correspondence between the alarm area and the video channel through software linkage (API integration) or hard linkage (switch output).

The system supports wall-mounted installation (installed on the upper part of the wall, with the distance between the lowest wire and the wall top being 120mm ± 10mm) and ground-mounted installation (height not less than 1.8m, and a protective net or wall must be installed on one side of the fence, not less than 1.2m, with a spacing of not less than 1m).

The network architecture utilizes existing network transmission signals, eliminating the need for additional communication lines or fiber optic cabling. This solution can reduce wiring costs by approximately 40%, reduce construction costs by approximately 30%, and merge the communication networks of the pulse host and network cameras, simplifying system design.

The pulse host and alarm host both support external connection of a DC 12V battery as a backup power source, allowing for continuous operation during a power outage. In addition, the host is equipped with non-volatile memory, which can automatically save the original working status and parameter settings, and does not require reconfiguration after power is restored.
